Meet Kaley Ide
My journey with film photography began way back in the middle school dark room. I was always head-deep in an art project growing up, but photography opened a new world of creativity for me. It was cathartic and energizing.
In college my love for film resurfaced when I bought an analog film camera. I toted it along with me everywhere, searching for light and willing subjects.
It wasn't until settling in to kansas city and having my own kids that I felt I finally found the subjects I love shooting most. When I began pulling out my film camera again for our everyday moments at home and about, I began seeing our life in a deeper, more meaningful way. The concentration on my daughter's face while working a puzzle, their knobby toes and hands, the movement - ohhh the constant movement! Documenting the little things of life on film has brought me immense joy that I know will grow tenfold when my kids are no longer little anymore, and their childlike wonder fades. I so desperately want to help preserve these fleeting moments for others, too, which is how I ended up on this journey of documenting your families on film!
I create images of your family that feel like joy, nostalgia, and childhood. My mission as a photographer is to capture emotive images of families that tell an honest story of who they are. My style is timeless yet modern with a touch of playfulness. I aim to create keepsakes for your family from this fleeting time that will be cherished for years to come.
Thanks for being here. I hope you'll stick around and introduce yourself.
My three girls & I - Mother's Day, 2024 - We barely squeezed in to the very last frame of a roll of film.
My rock <3 — Stockholm, 2013 — I handed a willing stranger my film camera. Said stranger didn't know how to focus the lens, but I love this picture nonetheless.
